The present edition of Law Relating to Intellectual Property Rights has been thoroughly revised and updated. This edition includes the amendments in the intellectual property laws after India joined the TRIPs Agreement. The TRIPs Agreement evolved minimum standards for various types of intellectual property rights. The book contains an analytical study of the laws on intellectual property rights, such as Copyright Act 1957; Designs Act 2000; Patents Act, 1970; Trade Marks Act, 1999; Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999; Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act, 2001; Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Layout-Design Act, 2000; and law of confidential information including trade secrets. The book also discusses know-how and licences to give an overall picture of the law on intellectual property rights. A plethora of Indian and English cases has been discussed to make the book more useful. To acquaint the readers of international law on the subject, a summary of all the international treaties, conventions and agreements have been provided in the book. The book is written in a very simple and lucid manner.
