This publication focuses on some of the challenges and issues that surround the effective control of small arms and light weapons as well as the implementation of existing legal policies. The information contained is adopted from the Workshop on Small Arms and Light Weapons: Legal Aspects of National and International Regulations held in Geneva from 17th to 19th May 2001. Documents and information included in the book cover the following topics: achievements in small arms control, existing regulations and experiences from the field; lessons that can be drawn from other control regimes that have been integrated into the Small Arms and Light Weapons process; the issue of norm setting and implementation and national legislation on these issues.
