Overview:

The Workmen`s Compensation Act of 1923 now Employees` Compensation Act was a turning point in the history of labour jurisprudence and trade union movement. This was the earliest national legislation to provide compensation to the workmen by their employers for injury which could be suffered by the workmen as a result of an accident during the course of employment. The general principle is that a workman, who suffers injury in the course of his employment, should be entitled to compensation and in case of a fatal injury, his dependents should be compensated. The Act provides security to the workmen who are incapacitated resulting in a loss in the earning capacity.

 
The provisions of the Act have not only been explained but ratios of the relevant case laws are also given in this book. Besides that, emphasis has been laid on procedure for calculation of compensation with illustration which will be helpful for the readers to calculate the compensation. The full act and the Rules thereto have also been given.
