Overview:

This standard work consolidates the law relating to inquiry and investigation under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966, in the light of the important interpretations given by the Hon 'ble Supreme Court and various High Courts of India.

Care has been taken to include important cases. Important Amendments have been made in the recent past to the Railway Protection Force Rules, 1987, with respect to the procedure of recruitment, issue of 'Sick Memo', or 'Sick Certificate', etc., and these have been incorporated at the relevant places.

Guidelines have been laid down, with the help of decided cases, to deal with problem situations during search, arrest, registration of the cases, investigation, inquiry and trial.

The Railway Protection Force, Rules, 1987 have been included. Also relevant extracts have been given from the new Railways Act, 1989. Apart from these, the appendices also contain extracts or full texts of useful allied Acts, Rules and Orders.

Reviews

  • All India Reporter :
  • The standard set up in the first edition published in 1981 has not only been maintained but has also been considerably improved.
  • Current Indian Statutes :
  • The present work is a critical commentary on the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1986. The book deals with a subject which tackles problems evidenced by mounting thefts and misappropriation of railway property.
  • Hon'ble Mr. Justice S. Murtaza Fazal Ali (Retd. Judge, Supreme Court of India) :
  • Having gone through the entire script, I am of the opinion that the book is a very useful piece of legal literature and fulfils the paramount need of the hour. The very scientific and legal fashion in which the various provisions of the Act have been analysed and explained, makes the book a treat for the legal intelligentsia. I highly commend the book...
  • Criminal Law Journal :
  • This book is, no doubt, a valuable addition to our legal literature and it would be of great use not only to the trainees of the RPF Training College but also to the legal practitioners and courts alike.
  • Maharashtra Law Journal :
  • The commentary is ample proof of the deep study made by the author for bringing out the present publication.
