Overview:

This edition has been thoroughly revised and enlarged. The revising author has tried to project to the reader an overview of the subject and simultaneously also given, an in-depth insider 's view.

Three chapters have been added to give the reader this overview:-

  • Scientific Theory of Identification Evidence.
  • Scientific Theory of Scientific Evidence.
  • Constitutional privilege against self-incrimination.

The in-depth study of every aspect of the subject is comprehensively covered by another eight chapters. A detailed study has been made of the various methods and techniques of identifying persons, property, handwriting, fingerprints, footprints and ballistics (including dead bodies, blood stains, poison, adulterants, adulterated food, etc.).

The last chapter i.e. Chapter XII provides `Model cross-examinations of witnesses´. This chapter greatly enhances the practical utility of the book and is written in a functional, workable and widely understood language.

The net result of all these changes has been an increase of over 150 pages in the bulk of the book.

An indispensable book for lawyers, those in the Attorney General's office, the police, judiciary and the litigants.

Reviews

  • Criminal Law Journal : The book explains in charming language, the principles and the application of the law of identification and expert opinion very explicitly. It is a very valuable book both to the civil and criminal lawyers, who can derive much information and up-to-date knowledge of the subject and it will benefit them immensely.
  • Malayan Law Journal, Singapore : The present edition has been revised to incorporate the changes in case-law and the Criminal Procedure Code. This book should interest lawyers, those in the Attorney General 's office and in the police force dealing with this aspect of criminal law.
