Overview:

The Insurance business is at the take-off stage of galloping expansion in India. Sky is the limit for expansion of this business. There is insurance for anything that we can imagine. The last Edition was published in the year 1994. Thereafter, there was complete overhaul of the Insurance Act, 1938 by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999) w.e.f. 19-4-2000.

The book includes commentaries on The Insurance Act, 1938, The Life Insurance Corporation Act, 1956, The General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Act, 1972, The marine Insurance Act, 1963. It also includes commentary on the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 pertaining to litigation before Motor Accidents Claims Tribunals (MACTs).

Keeping in view the pending court cases and for academic interest of the readers, commentary on old provisions of the Insurance Act, 1938, which have been repealed or omitted or amended by the Amendment Act, 2015 have been retained.
The case laws have been updated in all the Acts in the present edition.

The present edition provides useful information to the lawyers, litigants courts, officers of the insurance companies, officers of IRDA, students and academicians interested in insurance laws.
