Overview:

Constitutional Law - I: Structure is an authoritative book dealing with the structure of government that the Indian Constitution has erected for the country’s governance.

The first chapter introduces the subject to the reader which helps him understand the subject in the correct perspective. The next few chapters discuss the three governing institutions which are executive, legislature and judiciary and their interrelationship. The book also examines the federal relations and the consequent problems that this distribution of powers gives rise to.

The two pillars of Indian constitutional system which are democracy and constitutionalism are also discussed. Apart from this, the book also examines some general issues relating to constitutional theory and constitutional governance. The last few chapters deal with public services, Election Commission and constitutional change.

The book contains the latest statutory amendments and case laws including a detailed analysis of the National Judicial Appointments case (Supreme Court Advocate on Records Association case).

The book comes with a companion web resource EBC ExplorerTM (www.ebcexplorer.com) which provides FREE access to many features, such as

  • Students can read full text of important case laws indicated by Case PilotTM.
  • Important statutes indicated by Statute PilotTM can also be accessed.
  • Students may use the Discussion ForumTM to post comments, discuss issues and explore ideas on Constitutional Law.
  • Readers can stay updated on recent development on Constitutional Law through the SCC Online Blog.

"Constitutional Law - Structure 1: In my view this book is very helpful to Law student (LL.B. & LL.M.) as well as advocates. It is most handy for quick comprehensive and comparative study of the subject of constitutional law and in it, bifurcate each and every topic which includes Governing institutions, federal relations, public services, election commission." - Rabindra Kumar, Guest Lecturer, Dept. of Law LL.M., Ranchi College, Ranchi

The book Constitutional Law- 1 is a scholarly work. The author has nicely elaborated all the aspects of constitutional law with latest developments and case decisions. The book is an authority in itself dealing with the premises that the Constitution of India has constructed for the government of the country like ours.
