This compilation attempts to present the prevailing up-to-date law relating to forests in U.P. The main legislation, Indian Forest Act, 1927 (as applicable to Uttar Pradesh) has been included with all its amendments. Also, the book incorporates several independent Acts on this subject passed by the U.P. legislature such as Uttar Pradesh Tendu Patta (Vyapar Viniyaman) Adhiniyam, 1972; Uttar Pradesh Fruit Nurseries (Regulation) Act, 1976; Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 etc. Rules passed under the parent Act and under the U.P. Acts and relevant notifications are also included.

The book would also be found relevant in the State of Uttarakhand.
